FAQs
How long will it take me to feel better?
There’s no easy answer to this question. For many people, short-term therapy can make a significant difference in their day-to-day lives. Others opt to stay in therapy for a longer period due to the nature of the work we are doing or they just enjoy having a space reserved for themselves. An initial consultation is helpful in determining how much time may be best for you.
I’ve never been to therapy — do we just talk?
For some people, therapy is a safe place to express themselves and share their thoughts and emotions. Others may seek skills to help them manage life’s challenges. And for some, they wish to discuss, explore and process events from their past. How we spend our time is highly dependent on your personal needs.
Do you take insurance?
I am currently out of network with all insurance providers. Some insurance providers reimburse for therapeutic services. I encourage you to contact your provider and ask the following questions:
What is my eligibility for out-of-network mental health/behavioral health outpatient care?
How much will be covered for office visits with the CPT code of 90834?
Am I responsible for a certain amount of payments each year (deductible) before my insurance starts to cover payments?
How many sessions are covered by my plan per calendar year?
Does virtual therapy work?
Some people are hesitant to try therapy via telehealth as they believe they can form a better connection with someone in-person. As a clinician who has conducted therapy both ways, I'm pleased to state that virtual therapy can be as effective as in-person. Whether it's a busy schedule, challenges getting around town, or needing convenient access, telehealth is a beneficial option for many people. I believe that more important than in-person or virtual is if the therapist is a good and appropriate fit for you and your presenting concerns.
